Weekend style, what I wore for Sunday lunch...

It is approaching that time of year again - yes, that tricky transitional dressing phase when it is not warm enough for summer clothes but not quite cold enough for winter ones either. This outfit is actually something I wore way back in March this year for Sunday lunch at one of our favourite places in Wales, The Mulberry. I had this post saved in draft and somehow never got around to posting it, you know how it is - work, life and family commitments often take over everything else.

I find autumn and spring outfits are often interchangeable as they are similar seasons, and since we are again at that time when it is not too hot and not too cold, I thought I would share this spring outfit. Being tall and curvy, dressing for my figure is often a challenge but I love the skinny jeans tucked in to boots look. Along with skinny jeans and boots, I reached for a black v-neck t-shirt, a Stradivarius backpack I purchased in Verona, my trusty Balmain shades and this chunky textured coatigan from Primark which adds some interest to an otherwise plain and casual look.

All in all, I really like this outfit for Sunday lunch and I felt stylish yet laid-back wearing this to enjoy a relaxed meal and a few drinks, followed by a walk around the marina.

The meal itself was just the thing for a chilled out Sunday, we had a Sunday roast and a drink or two at The Mulberry, one of the pubs I love to head for when I really need to unwind.

We relaxed with a coffee after lunch, before enjoying a walk and eventually heading home. Hours had drifted by without us even noticing and this is just how a Sunday should be spent in my opinion!

Going to the bright side...

I do not know about you, but I am not feeling the dark nights and the colder weather. As much as I love the spectrum of russet and brown as the leaves begin to fall signalling the onset of autumn, I am not such a huge fan of the shorter days. So what is a girl to do when everything seems a little more drab, but to inject a burst of brightness in to her daily wardrobe?

Browsing the shops one day, I spied this bold blazer and I was immediately stopped in my tracks. Now, don’t get me wrong I am not normally one for (gasp) colour when it comes to my clothes and I usually stick with the tried and true territory of neutrals and black, so this zesty little number is a total departure for me but I actually love it!

I like the double breasted style, the sharp tailoring which flatters my curves, the contrasting black buttons and most of all the striking hue. Coral, tomato or plain old orange – call it what you will, I love this daring (for me) piece which is sure to elevate a simple outfit to the realm of something a little bit more fashion.

Best of all, this blazer cost only £20, a bargain by any stretch of my shopping imagination and leaving me with some cash left over for coffee or maybe even a cocktail or two! Here, I teamed the blazer with a pair of faux leather effect trousers, the faux fur heels I am loving right now and an Iron Maiden tank top which I bought ages ago, which I have worn so much. Throwing on my favourite Missoni sunglasses and grabbing my big tote bag, I felt this look was ideal for a few drinks with family.

I like the way a blazer makes every outfit seem polished and well put together, even when I have not made much effort. When I do not know what to wear, a blazer always saves the day as I team it with jeans or trousers, a basic top and heels. It looks like a Grade A style effort every time, even when I have got ready at warp speed. This orange piece gives me a ray of sunshine on dreary days and I think it will be on repeat for my autumn outfits.

Checkmate...

We have quickly arrived at that time of year when 'transitional' dressing becomes necessary; it is too warm for full autumn/winter attire, but chilly enough to layer items together. Step forward the shirt dress, which has to be one of my favourite casual pieces for this tricky mid-season style conundrum.
I wore this outfit on Saturday for a day catching up with family and doing a little shopping - this is a simple look which is easy to throw together and I think the faux-fur trim heels add an element of fun to the ensemble.

For colder days I plan to pair this shirt dress with tights, boots and a coat, but for a warm September day this was the ideal way to style it. I wore a sheer black camisole underneath and a pair of cold knee skinny jeans.

This check print shirt dress is such a handy item to have in my autumn/winter wardrobe, as it can be worn in a variety of ways.

A classic chain strap handbag and a pair of oversize black sunglasses completed the look. The bag was a recent bargain from Primark, it is so versatile as it can also be used as a clutch bag, by tucking the chain inside the bag.

This is a comfortable and relaxed look which I would wear for a meal at the pub, to the cinema or to go out shopping. The shoes have a block heel, so they are actually quite easy to walk in.

Styling a sheer floral top...

Two words which I would not usually associate with my day to day style are 'floaty' and 'floral', but lately I have loved this style of top, which I have seen all over Instagram and my favourite fashion blogs too, so when I saw this one I decided to buy it. Since it is so sheer, I wore a plain black vest top underneath it and I paired it with some skinny jeans and black accessories. I love the ruffled neckline and the floral print, which gives this top a romantic edge.

Since this top is such a statement piece on its own, I kept the rest of the look very simple. I have had these Missoni sunglasses for quite some time and there is something about wearing designer sunglasses which always makes me feel more polished, no matter how casual my outfit may be.

I know that these oversized sleeves have been around for a while now too, but I am still not over the trend just yet. Even though the sheer and floral style of this top is suited to summer, I feel that this look will work well for autumn too, when I plan to wear the top with black skinny jeans and over the knee boots. I think this will be the perfect top to wear for daytime dates in the autumn and I can imagine wearing it for pub lunches and strolls, paired with a belted winter coat.

What the heart wants...

I have been spending a lot of time away travelling recently, I have been on two work trips in the past two months to Prague and to Kenya and I have also been on a few breaks in the UK this year. I think that travelling is a real privilege in life and the more you travel, the more you want to travel. There is such a huge world out there to explore and I love to experience different cultures and visit countries I have not been to before. I have always loved to travel and I am fortunate that I have visited many countries and I have lots more on the list of places I am eager to go to, so the title of this post 'what the heart wants' refers to my passion for travel...exploring new places is definitely what my heart wants.
Anyway after that rambling intro to this post, here is what I wore for a evening back home recently. I love the effortless combination of pairing a black maxi dress with a contrasting blazer. I got this blazer last year in both pink and white and it has been such a handy wardrobe staple.

I love a classic chain handle handbag, this one is from Zara and I use it so much. I like rose gold accessories too and I think they add a touch of style to a simple outfit. This choker was a piece I bought a while ago and I have worn it often. I think the key to dressing for my shape is to keep it simple, I find that patterns and too many details do not suit me so I like to keep my outfits fairly minimal.

I like the way black and white looks so fresh together. This outfit was ideal for a relaxed evening stroll and we just went to get some ice cream after our walk. Sometimes the simple pleasures in life are the best.

A black maxi dress is always a key piece in my wardrobe for summer. Because I am tall, I find maxi dresses are suited to my figure and I have worn black maxi dresses for so many years. I definitely stick to a style formula!

An evening stroll...

I look forward to going for walks so much, whether it is first thing in the morning, when I am alone with my thoughts, or in the evening with my partner when we watch the sailing boats bobbing along the lake. I love the way water changes constantly; sometimes it is placid and at other times it is tumultuous and full of raw power. I suppose in one sense, the ever changing nature of water reflects the transience of life itself.
Walks are an integral part of my day and they have become especially important to me lately because I work mainly alone and too much time staring at a computer screen gets to me after a while, so walks are my way of balancing my day out a little more. This simple outfit is what I wore one evening this week, for a stroll close to where we live.

I love the classic design of a quilted black handbag with a chain handle, which I feel always adds a touch of elegance to an outfit. This bag was actually from Zara and I have used it so much recently, it just about fits all of my essentials in it, but I use a bigger bag during the day when I carry my laptop with me for work.

This black blazer with gold detail buttons is an item I wear practically every day lately; I am a big fan of sophisticated and minimal style and I think several good basics such as blazers, jeans and t-shirts are the staples of a great everyday wardrobe.

Ripped jeans are not always formal enough for me to wear at work events, but I love to wear them on days when I can go for a more relaxed look and I think the darker wash denim makes them look a little more refined. I love these basic black sandals I got recently too, they are comfortable and easy to slip on. I prefer flat shoes for daily running around and heels to wear out to dinner or events. Even though I am tall, I find wearing heels still gives me a feeling of confidence.

I wore this look with a white vest and my favourite Balmain sunglasses. There is a pretty garden near our home and there were so many flowers in bloom, bursting with colour and fragrance. Little moments like looking at flowers or watching a beautiful sunset can so often be forgotten amidst the pressure of day to day life, but it is important to take some time for yourself every day and to put your own needs first now and again.

The delicate and fleeting beauty of this rose served to remind me that time passes us by so quickly and that we should treasure each and every moment of it.

After strolling through the garden we went to the lake to watch the sunset. The muted colours and tranquility of the reflections were the perfect conclusion to the day. I love the way water takes on a completely different character dependent on the weather.

Thank you for joining me for another Cami Wears post. I am excited to share some of my daily style with you. What do you all think, do you like outfits like this and what are your style staples? As always I cannot wait to hear your thoughts and thank you so much for reading this post.

An introduction from me...

Hi everyone, my name is Camille and I have created Cami Wears to share some of my day to day outfits with you. Some of you may be familiar with my other blog Coco Cami, where I write mainly about food, travel and lifestyle. Back when I first created that blog, I used to share more style content, but now that Coco Cami is mainly about food I thought that I would start another blog where I can indulge my passion for style. I love style blogs and I spend far too much time scrolling through blogs and Instagram accounts for style inspiration. Shopping is one of my favourite pursuits and I am mainly a high street girl when it comes to finding outfits which suit me; I am tall and curvy so my figure is not the easiest shape to dress and I find that stores like Primark and H&M are my usual destinations to find clothes which suit me. My personal style has certainly evolved over the past few years; when I hit my thirties my confidence began to increase and I felt that I finally found my own style, to which simplicity is the key. I love blazers because I think they can dress up a jeans and t-shirt outfit and make it look much more stylish. I also love maxi dresses due to my height and on days when I can't decide what to wear I always go for the basics of jeans and a t-shirt paired with some minimal accessories. I like Bardot tops too, they are having such a moment right now!

I am looking forward to using this blog to share my outfits with you, it will be a place where I can express my love of fashion without it overlapping in to the content of my other blog. Thanks for stopping by and for reading my very first post here!

Outfits which I can just throw on appeal to me, I never plan what I am going to wear until the last minute and due to my work as a writer I attend events and restaurant reviews which I have a whole rail of dresses for. I love long dresses and I always feel ready for an evening event when I wear a long dress with heels and a clutch bag.

These pictures sum up my style perfectly, this was a day to night look as I had a meeting during the day when I wore this, followed by evening drinks. I feel that the jeans, camisole and sandals ensemble is made smart enough for work by the structured handbag and the blazer. Also, I was wearing my Balmain sunglasses which never fail to make me feel more stylish, even when I am tired!
